Frights, Ghouls and the lustful Black Swan

As you know, it is slowly drawing to the end of October and edging ever nearer to Christmas, but before that we have Halloween. Usually it means nothing to me as it's not very big in Australia, I've only ever had one trick-or-treater come to the house and we didn't even have candy :( But this year is different. This year an amazing friend of mine has organised a Halloween Party! And I have decided to dress as the Black Swan, from the movie of the same name. Unfortunately, the party is this weekend and today's Friday, and I haven't started the costume yet, but hey, it's the thought that counts... right? Here are the pictures I'm basing my costume on, only real problem is the application of make-up ( as I am le-terrible) and the crown which looks like half-melted, disintegrated metal.

Are you dressing up this Halloween season?

Cover me in Glitter, Dance the Night Away

Having serious glitter fettish at the moment, (or are they sequins? Ahhh! I LOVE BOTH!)
I think it started after I drove through the city last week, on a late Saturday night. There was this heavy bass coming from the car next to me and I looked up to see it was a BUS, an actual school bus, with big writing on the side saying BOOM-BOOM PARTY BUS.... HOW COOL! there were L.E.D's in the roof and a TV and all the people were just standing up and dancing, trust me, it looked AMAZING ;)

Anyway here are some images to help satisfy my cravings, but I think I'll need something real, and tangible and glittery in my hands before this urge is truly satisfied. Actually, come to think of it I  do have a gold sequin covered backpack from while back (don't ask why, I was on a high...) maybe I'll go and dig it out.

Glittery Kisses

Blogger Spotlight Wednesday: SIETSKE L

Take Note: WHiTE BLAZER! DEFINITE SEASON BUY!

DENIM VEST? I think Yes!

So with much anticipation I would like to announce this week's blogger spotlight....
*drum roll please*

SIETSKE L

At first I will have to admit, that I disregarded this girl as she wasn't wearing fancy dresses, or showing much on-trend fashion, but oh! How I repent! This Genius is a real inspiration, using real clothes, to make real looks, that still look so elegant and classy. Yes, you might even spot the same thing twice in this girl's daily lookbook diary, but so what? that's reality! She also never deviates from her minimalist, slightly tomboy look, for which I admire her greatly. I tend to have trouble coordinating a single outfit, mixing colours, studs, and lace! Too much, too much.

Thankyou, Siestke for giving me fashion looks I can actually try, not just eye-gasm pictures of fantasy and a bottomless wallet!

A Rose by any other name...

Would be easier to say! Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is quite a mouthful, but that is this beautys' only drawback. With a 'right proper' English accent she's a Victoria's Secret Angel as well as the face of Burberry among the gizzillion other things she's signed onto! This lady is hot property. Another girl-crush? I think so!

PS Don't go cutting your wrists just yet, she may be crazy-hot sexy, but I'll let you in on a little secret. Her only other drawback.. is her acting. Yes, I'm sorry to say that Transformers 3 definitely did not gain from her presence. But shhh don't tell her. I couldn't stand tears on that piquant face.

No Less Than Six!

Thought I'd do a bit of an outfit post, or maybe this is called a styling post as I'm not actually wearing the clothes?
So this miracle dress in question, I am very proud to say is entirely of my own creation. One of the first DIY projects I've finished to the very end! Anyway I really wanted to show it's versatality (okay so really I just want to show off a bit- but hey? I put a lot of work  into this I'm allowed to boast a bit :P).

1. Using the dress as a top, the stove-pipe pants keep the look smart, and ready for a day out.
(Pants+ Butterfly Earings- Harris Scarfes, Boots- Rubi Shoes, Leopard Ring- Equip, Bangles+Belt- Vintage)
2. Simple and stunning! Keep the jewellery sparse and let the goreous velvet grab all the attention.
(Broach- Grandmother's, Cuff- Equip, Heels- Vintage RMK)
3. Casual, and very chic. I think the velvet and leather (faux) goes together really well. Not to mention the bonus points for carrying around Harper's Bazaar with cute & cheeky Miranda Kerr on cover.
(Lace Poncho (worn as scarf)+Bangles- Vintage, Tan Faux Leather Shorts- chic-a-booti, Boots- Rubi, Glasses- Dangerfield)

4. Thought I'd give the outfit some edge with leather and boots.
(Leather Jacket- Chatty Aroma (JAPAN), Plain Black Tights, Necklace+ boots- Vintage)
5. Spring weather-ready, casual outfit. Lunch out? or a date ?
(Tan Faux Leather Skirt- Harris Scarves, Necklace- Equip, Ankle Boots- Betts, Shirt- Vintage Temt)
6. Finally a more eclectic outfit, for the kooky inside. Dress used a skirt underneath and Nerd Glasses added for effect.
(Faux Fur Vest- Target, Heeled Boots+ Hat- Rubi, Glasses- Dangerfield, Striped Top+Bag-Vintage)

Quite proud of my outfit workings :) Maybe I should become a stylist.....

Blondes, Brunettes and Red Lips

I've always wanted to try a bold red lip, but was worried that it may be reserved solely for blondes and the first few pictures definitely highlight my belief. However, after some scouring of the net I did manage to find quite a few brunette beauties who made the pout look 'oh-so-sexy' so maybe it is time for me to give it a go? Although one thing I did notice was that all who had red lippie on also had flawless skin, whether this is the requirement to carry off Raunchy Red or that the lipstick itself brighten that makes them look so flawless I am yet to figure out...

Fashion Festival, yes we have them!

 *Favourite look of the afternoon*

** Drooling over these red heels...

*Sorry for the blur... camera doesn't like to focus on the go.

*Interesting displays, fashion in the tree-tops (although it was a waste of some good dresses if you ask me).

On Sunday I travelled all the way into town to see the Fashion Parades and have to admit, after all the hastle it caused, it wasnot very impressive. I guess, as the idea is to sell clothes to the everyday masses, that they have to be slightly more average, regular clothes (it saddens my heart to say that people are not very creative here, and it saddens me to the point of tears to admit I may fall into that category...) However, really such looks should be left to shop catelogues, no? And the runway be reserved for their biggest ideas only, and show their talent! Not their ability to make everyday t-shirts and pants. I guess for now I can only wish that one day, the security guard at the Paris fashion shows will have his attention engaged elsewhere and I am able to slip past him into the show of McQueen....

Xx Kiki

PS, one of the models was an ex-student from my school. She was in the grade above so I didn't know her very well, but it was quite astonishing to see her on stage and I am filled with congratulations and jealousy over her achievements. Good Luck, Miss X

A Revelation

Okay, I think I may need to admit I am seriously close, if not already, a shopping addict. Went to the local SALVOS to drop off my old Barbie house and some clothes only to walk out with all this. I don't regret buying the stuff and I do believe they are all good choices of high quality, but I just have too much stuff!
The problem I am now having with Second-hand stores is that they are so cheap, I can get 6 items of clothing of shoes for no more than twenty-dollars and I had believed that that was great... However I know realise whether you can afford the items or not isn't the problem. It's whether you cherish what you buy and use it to the fullest. Honestly, I would have to say about one-quarter of the items I posess are unused, unworn and unloved. I hate what's happening in third world countries the child labour and unfit living conditions, that's why I started buying second-hand. To reduce my money spent towards such miserable lives, but even so with all the material goods I surround myself with I feel no better than if they were worth thousands of dollars instead of fifty. My main point through all these ramblings? That I am going to buy less and cherish the clothes I wear; to get at least 6 wears out of every item in my wardrobe (this may take years, so bear with). And in the end it is okay if I do choose to buy a $100 pair of shoes as long as I get $100 worth of wear out of them!

Phew* feels good to get that out. I feel I've had a revelation.

Here I leave you with a picture of my naive little puppy, who has not a care in the world (Lucky B***!).
